Our Story

Tammy and I met and fell in love even though she was born and bred in North Carolina and I'm a Yankee. Both of ourformal training was technical, hers pharmacutical and mine engineering. We both shared a love of unique bespoke wood products and soon, our Eastern North Carolina home was full of our own Creations. My father was a cabinetmaker who learned his love of wood from his father and he from his father. After finishing his US Army tour in Europe (he was part of the D-Day campaign) he settled in Connecticut with my mom and became a modelmaker. When I was born, he passed his craft to me, a fourth generation woodworker. He taught me how to create whatever you can dream of and pass these objects to future generations. Most importantly, he gave me an appreciation of diffrent styles, what quality is and primarily craftmenship. Thanks to my Colonial New England surroundings, Shaker and Amish my work reflected those styles. My mothers Irish culture and heratage from County Cork was evident in the home I grew up in and gave me roots in historical purpose.

Our company's name, Hand and Heart Woodworking and logo, is based upon this story. The logo is based upon the Irish Claddagh design symbolizing Friendship, Loyalty and Love. Our name is based upon the Shaker work ethic of Hands to Work and Hears to God. Tammy and I take this very seriously.

Our hope is to create and pass on items that exemplify our background, collective influences and shared dreams. We hope our ongoing Journey will help others express themselves through our creations and pass them along to their heratage. We both hope you enjoy reviewing our current items and look forward to counting you as not just customers but our friends.

God Bless!
